Wrens in my horse trailer

Wrens have built a nest / eggs are in the nest in my horse trailer. Not sure how long the eggs have been there, but I need to use the trailer but do not want to do anything that will cause harm. I assume I can't move the nest-do I just have to wait this out?

You will need to decide just how much you need the trailer. I really think that shifting the nest is a waste of time as they almost certainly won't go back on it when positioned somewhere else.
If you decide to use the trailer..... take consolation in that losing a nest won't put them off breeding and they will soon build another nest somewhere else.

I will wait it out. The slight hitch is that it is time ( a little past) for my horse's yearly exam/teeth etc., plus I use the trailer for animal rescue and other things. But I love wrens and can not disturb the family. I just thought someone might know a fix. I have to cover this trailer in the future to discourage them building in it.

Aw, bless!! That's sweet of you not moving the trailer till the babies have hatched. I'm sure you can borrow another trailer from someone.
Just an aside - a friend of mine had a wren nest in the cab of his tractor, a couple of years ago and even though he drove it round his farm, he parked it in the same place every time he'd finished with it (he never took it out for long, in deference to the mother wren) and mum continued to sit on the eggs (she even went for a ride in the tractor, still sitting on her nest!) and fed the babies till they all fledged. Happy ending! K x

I just love the responses I have gotten about this-the tractor story is so great. I checked on her today and at first did not see her in the nest-but yes, there she was. i will work around it - just too fun and l have always had a special something about wrens=

They will hatch 3w max. You must not move the trailer so hire/borrow one till they hatch.

Clear the nest once they hatch else the bird will start a 2nd clutch.

Hi Marianne :-)..Thanx for your great decision;-)...In the last 2 years a tiny gorgeous wren has come into my garden...i'd never seen one in my life before!!...They are a real treat to watch;-)

I hope that mum continues to care for her eggs and appreciates that you were caring for her welfare (not a chance! - I have rescued a few birds stuck in the back of my fireplace and not one of them seemed grateful).
