Mobile email - working out how much one has used

I use Vodafone's mobile email via a SIM card dongle attached to my PC. It came with a proprietary piece of Vodafone software to manage the connection - which I ditched because it kept interfering with Windows and various RAS Codes errors occurred. The connection now works fine except that I now have no method of knowing how much of my monthly download limit I've used up. Anyone know of a means of tracking it, please?
