I do not understand the purpose of it and cannot see what answerbank would gain from using it, I have managed to work out how it operates and still have come to the same conclusion.

From what I can make out the sole purpose of twitter is to allow individuals to post their random thoughts for others to read. Rather like an on line diary to be shared.

Private messaging could be useful in some circumstances, I suppose.

I think Ethel has hit the nail on the head, it is for random thoughts but also for people with a low attention span unable to maintain any lengthy debate or conversation, or maybe unsocial people , lazy people, or people who feel the world of twitter is somehow elevating them to a public stage.
But of course each to their own, i shall continue to use it so maintain some sort of communication with the ab editor. : ))
