Hi, I have a Vauxhall Corsa 98 plate 8v 1.2 Breeze. Every now and again, the engine management light comes on, it only seems to be when i'm in a high gear and the revs get low, then it cuts out, then when i start it back up, I have to rev it to get it going. I had it in for some work and they did an engine diagnostics check and they said it was the ERG valve, could this be possible, if so, how do I prevent it from happening again?
far i know EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation valve) only operates on a cold engine to keep emissions down !so would not suspect this unless problem is happening on a cold engine.
check that all plugs and connections are tight to see if this solves problem!
Hi, had the same problem with my vectra. it was the idle air control valve. If you take it to a vauxhall garage it will cost you around 150 quid!!!!!! However you can buy the part off ebay for around 25. My friend fitted it for me (5 minute job) and it solved the problem. The diagnostic machine never picks it up and for some reason garages never think of it, although i think they do it on purpose to get more money out of you. Good luck hope this helps.
