Hi,Got the PC back from a rebuild and Microsoft Outlook has been installed as my mail client. How do I reinstall Outlook Express. I work in XP Pro. Thanks Rodz
As VHG says, OE must still be there, but installing Outlook causes Outlook to become the default e-mail client. So, locate the OE icon and double-click it. It may ask you if you want it to become the default - if so, answer Yes.
If it doesn't ask, click Tools/Options, and on the General tab, click the button "Make Default".
I must admit I've never used OE - and being a corporate pawn ... probably never will - so I don't know that this is 100% right
but on this machine . I can't see any OE options in explorer... or in control panel
but it is in the start menu
and when you open it the wizard starts and it checks to see if it's default
and in add remove progs | windows components
there is the option to un/install the prog
I'm not going to reconfig all my mail to prove a point
but I'd uninstall outlook if you're not going to use it
tools | internet options | programs |
has the option to set default progs ... and one of the e-mail options is oe - so it's probably possible to run them side by side
I have both Outlook and OE installed, and occasionally open them for support purposes, but neither is my default client.
OE is a tiny toy and Outlook is a big clunky Tonka toy (IMHO)
