Julian Opie designed the album cover for The Best of Blur - the one with the four heads on, and would seem to fit your criteria admirably.

Marlene Dumas uses paint in addition to ink washes for her studies of human heads and faces.  she takes her inspiration from magazines, celebrities and people she knows, but keeps the paintings anonymous. i've just used her for my gcse art project and my teacher loved her.
