I woke up in the night and my throat was in agony, my sister looked at it and said it was tonsiltus which I think it is too, however as the day has gone on im getting shivers and pains, does this accompany tosilitus, the strange thing is, my boyfriend has got it too, the symptoms of it but had his tonsils out years ago? Someone told him you can still get it without the tonsils...is this true?

No tonsils...no tonsilitis.
No appendix...no appendicitis.

It is that simple.BUT after having your tonsils removed, remnants may be left which can become inflamed.

Shivers, pyrexia is common with tonsilitis.
