Good heavens, I am so fed up with this - I did all you said, Chuckfickens, and up came Adobe Flash player, saying your download will start automatically - if a box came up saying save or run, click run. It did not download, a box came up saying save or cancel. I cancelled... back to download now and up came a page, all in blue at the top, with my many attempts at downloading spread across it, but still nothing happened. Where am I going wrong? (Owning a pc in the first place?) Grrr. I may be in an institution by lunchtime.... What should I be doing?

Any help gratefully received (where do you LEARN all this stuff?)

Right, I've had another go - found out I can delete all those attempts spread across the page, so have deleted those of yesterday - still two left and it says downloads complete, but I still cannot get anything to work. Where on the screen does it show bbc iplayer, or windows media player? Not on my screen anywhere, unless there is something I am not looking at???

Sorry to be a pest, and I AM sorry. Sorry I bought the thing in the first place...

OK, go through the steps again, and when it comes up save or cancel for the download click save, then once it says download complete double click on the entry in the download list, then select OK and or run and follow the instructions to install flash.

Iplayer will not appear on your desktop anywhere, all Iplayer is is just another web page the same as this one, you can bookmark it (add to your favorites) if you want, or open your browser and type the address for Iplayer in the address bar.

Right, Chuck, thank you for that, I shall do it straight away BUT ~ I have just noticed another thing - my speakers don't seem to be working - I have checked the connections at the back of the tower, on all fours, under a very dusty desk!! and everything seems to be alright. I had the button on mute, but haven't any longer - will this mean new speakers!!! More expense. It should not make any difference to downloading anything though....

(Funnily enough, although I have yet to find anything funny, I found out they were not working by Answerbank itself, as I always get a bong when I get any mail, and I didn't. So thanks to Answebank for that, too.)

God knows whjy it is on here twice...
it's probably not your speakers, you can check them using anything else that has a headphone socket though before going out and buying new ones.

just don't test it with another link to east enders .....

Right, fool of a person that I am, I had the speakers turned to Mute on the screen, turned them up and deafened the cat. No time now to try downloading iplayer again, try when I get home, must shoot off to meeting, but when I tried to get a programme, a message came that said unfortunately cannot find link ....can it be that my computer is too small - it is only a compaq home basic, I did not know this when I bought it, he said it would do anything....

Thank you very much, both of you, for bothering with me.

honestly ... it's going to be a lot less trouble if you buy a recorder
Question Author
You mean, I'M going to be a lot less trouble!! I've got three recorders in various places, but even so, I should be able to download what I want - I am not sure my computer is man enough it is a compaq windows home basic, wish I'd known when I bought it, the chap said it would do everything!!! I shan't reveal the name of the shop, in case I want to go back and carry on at them - they will be forewarned.
