speedometer broken

i have a mini and my the big sppedometer in the middle is brokwen, the screen was pushed in and now the arrow wont mve. i have tried pulling the screen out with a big sucker and once it is pulled out the arrow stil will not move. i rang the mini garage they reckon they couldnt fix it due to the whole thing needing replacing, but surely there is a way? im sure the arrow just needs pulling out somehow.
and i have a digital speedometer too so i do have one! thanks

Replace it, think about wrong MPH in a built up area, 3 points, Fine, all the Hazel, can be exchanged within 2/1/2 Hrs. It is not so often a speedo is correct when damaged.

My speedometer (small digital one) is correct, the arrow just wil not move on the main big one. This is the question i am asking, HOW am i supposed to replace it when Im being told it cant be done?

What I am saying Jrobinson, if you have a fault with the speed indicator needle then replace the whole unit, the time to do this is approx two & a half hrs, by doing that you are not taking the chance of the wrong MPH. you said you have used a sucker to pull out the screen, the point I am making if you where in a 30 zone & you think you are doing 30 when in fact you are doing 38mph there are 3 points on you licence + the fine.

yes i totally agree, but they have said they CANT change the whole unit?
And again, I have a digital speedo on my clock on my steering wheel, which is seperate from the one that is broken. which im sure is correct as i have been going thro speed cameras and past policemen! thanks for ur answers
