Found my tortoise dead earlier this week and on Wednesday had to have my dog put to sleep. She was 15 and her quality of life was not good. My cat is sitting on the bed with me (she's 16 'gettin' on) and I'm adfraid to look at her in case she pops off too. I think I'll just stay in bed today (day off work - comparsionate leave) and try to kill anything else.

i don't ,once is enough!
While I am sorry to hear about the loss of your pets, I find it strange that you get compasionate leave because of this.

We don't get that unless it's an immediate member of our family. They even frown on Uncles and Aunts, yet you get a day off because your tortoise snuffed it?!

I'm in the wrong job.
My mum got a day off work when my Nan's dog had a stroke !!
Surely ye jest?
you could be the third?
Nope ! Thing was, my grandparents were abroad and we were looking after the dog. But they were very sympathetic where she worked.

Anyway, Razzle - sorry to hear about your pets. xx
Oof! That oughta cheer them up!
I dunno, but there's been 2 plane crashes this week, so if you do believe - don't fly.
In all the places I have worked, compassionate leave is additional to annual leave and is certainly not granted for the death of a pet. Being allowed to book a normal day off at short notice is somewhat different.

Anyway, my sympathies Razzle. Why not go out and swat a wasp? That makes up 3 and rids the world of a pest.

Didn't really get day off. Decided last night after a glass of wine to absent myself from work (have taken it as leave) but I do think people should get time when animals are sick. I have been closer to animals at times in my life than when I was to my Grandmother when she died yet I got time off work. And do yu know what I'm thinking at the minuet Tambourine - how many of us will make it through the day. Not a good line of thinking. Need to get up out of bed and do something constructive. Anyway to all us who made it through the night - lets enjoy the day. Have a good one
Razzle09.........if you dont use it - you lose it! Glad I got you up to enjoy this lovely day.

Tambourine - many thanks. I'm just thinking that I'll go an have a manicure. It is either that or gardening - stuff that. At least if I go I'll have lovely hands. In fact I'm just wondering now if I should have the hair done too, maybe a facial lol. What that saying "We should live every moment as if it is our last". Something amiss here.
save the manicure as the garden needs doing - no point stuffing it. Get the hair sorted, look gorgeous & helpless in the garden & someone will offer to do it. When in the garden, people are seeing you & who knows what door will open......always the optimist, me!
