Hi, If the previous owner did not have the Log Book!!! how did he/she tax it when they had it?? You should not purchase a car with no log book ( V5)
Do the obvious thing: contact DVLA.
The previous owner didn't have the 'log book'?

And you bought it?

I would walk away from any car if the 'owner' doesn't have the registration certificate.

If the V5 is missing you will have to apply for one, which I think costs around 25. You will have to wait for this to arrive. When it does, you can then tax the car.

I suspect, unless anyone knows different, that you won't be able to tax it until then I'm afraid.
