I am on the point of loosing it big style. I had a 'miscarriage' last week on Tuesday and was told that it was a miscarriage by three profesionals, today however they decide to call me back in to have a chat with the doctor, which panicked me no end at work, being my first day back after the miscarriage. The doctor tonight said we cannot be sure it was a miscarriage it was to early on, like what the f@%k?!! You could see clearly on the scans where the baby had been! I was only 5 weeks gone but come on. The level of care i received whilst staying in hiospital was crap, i was left with no offer of a wash, treated like a child, im 23, and put on a ward right next to maternity. have they no feelings???????????? Im so upset im crying which had thought i got over i know i could complain, but would anything be done??? Oh and a doctor from in the uk who speaks fluent English would be a big help not some bloomin doctor from the back end of no where, where English is the second or third language! To top it all the hospital said we will cancel all ante natal appointments made for you, what do i get this morning? A bloody letter for a date scan on the 20th of next month! Im so angry im crying....sorry to rant......

I think you should complain; nothing will ever change if we remain 'British' and say nothing. Not sure who you should complain to but I usually resort to my local MP, who always has time to take up causes. (It would be even better is yours is a woman!) I hope you are receiving the love and support you need at home. x
Firewatch - so sorry to hear about this. The problem is, that early miscarriages CAN be no more than late periods, as friends've testified. What were the scans taken for at such an early time, do you know? I think you should complain if you weren't happy with the way you were treated. Write to the chief nursing officer of your hospital. x
"womens" wards are always together -it makes so much more sense that way as a lot of the skills are shared or similar - in my hospital the fertility clinic is actually on the maternity ward, and the people who have had miscarriages and the people who have had abortions and sterilizations are on the same ward - it just makes sense. I would have thought nurses might have expected a 23 year old to be able to ask for a bowl for a wash themselves, or to get up and have a shower themselves.
I really feel for you firewatch, it is awful you have been treated in such a way. Maybe you should visit your doctor to talk over what is happening to you? I hope things get resolved for you soon and that you feel better. Greedyfly.
As for Queeam - 'you need to learn english grammar first in order to someone to reasonably answer your question'.
Maybe her grammar and spelling is off because she is clearly distraught and I am sure that your 'answer' hasn't helped Firewatch in anyway, You should also check your own grammar and spelling before criticizing someone elses. It really annoys me when people just post answers to clearly rile the poster.

Also meant to add that you can't chose which country your doctor comes from unless you go private. A lot of doctors in the NHS don't come from the uk, but that dosent mean that they are any less good medically. You may have had trouble understanding them, but you could easily have had a bad experience with a "uk" doctor too. I suppose it's a good job we cant chose - perhaps the doctors could say " i dont want to treat anyone with blonde hair"
The NHS has it's own complaints system and there will be a comp[laints manager at the hospital you were in. they prefer to recieve complaints in writing (email will do) and it's probably better for you to do it this way because you will have chance to put emotion to one side and think what you want to say. You ask if anything would be done - that would depend ont he outcome of the complaints investigation, whether the hospital felt it had anything to put right. they may have reasonable answers for you.

Bednobs.....firewatch is not complaining about the standard of medical education fom Dr.s abroad, but only their ability to communicate...............very relevant.
Firewatch.......sometimes it can be difficult to be sure that vaginal bleeding in a pregnant woman is due to miscarriage, hence the re-evaluation.
Also ot seems that at your hospital, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

bednobs...communicatling information and communicating language, MAY be different.
I think firewatch was complaining about the lack of language communication rather than medical communication.
This has been the problem in the NHS ever since it's inception and more particularly in Obstetrics.......my opinion.

Hi,
I do apologize for my earlier answer. I was reprimanded by 2 others. I must say that I do not identify with all the anger but that's because I have 2 beautiful children but also I had 2 miscarriages. you just might be experiencing some form of depression. however, do seek medical attention as i am aware that some women are totally devastated after losing a pregnancy.
on another note, yes I would love to emigrate to England but my fiance has a business in Canada and I think that I might eventually settled there.

Thanks for all your answers im a little more level headed today!
We knew i was pregnant having done home tests after my period did not start as normal.
The thing about hospital was i was admitted as an emergency, taken up to ward put into bed and was left. They filled in a form about my details but did not bother taking my husbands phone number, he is my next of kin.
It was my first ever and if possible last ever stay in hospital. I had no idea what was going to happen, what i was allowed to do and not do etc. I was just left, nurses coming round every so often to offer me stuff for the pain, yeah like paracetamols was going to work?!?!
I was on bedrest, so did not know what to do in the morning for washing the nurse went round and asked every one else but missed me, i was annoyed but to frightened and upset to ask.
The scans were taken to make sure it was not ectopic as there was a risk it could have been, and the pain was one sided so they had to make sure.
I am an AMSPAR qualified medical receptionist and am glad i do not work for the NHS, i would be ashamed.
2 of the other ladies on the ward had cathaters, following operations, ones call alarm was ignored when she rung because the bag was not working properly, it turned out the nurse who moved her from the bed to the chair had kinked the pipe, she was left in discomfort for a good 2 hours! Another lady was left with an over full bag for three hours until the sister checked it just before visiting hours and they where making her keep drinking more and more fluids!
I am off to find to whom i need to complain to!

firewatch----you have every right to be angry at your treatment. You have suffered one of the worst traumas a women can undergo , that of losing a baby.
It is a disgraceful state of affairs that in this day and age we have some hospitals which fall well below all standards of patient care.
Complain definitely ,keeping a copy of your letter, and if the points you raise are not covered satisfactorily in a reply --have another go.
Unless people complain nothing will ever change.
Sincere good luck to you , and I hope your future will be better.
