Pig have had a long medical association with humans. Although we look very different, much testing has been done on our porcine friends as their genetic 'keys' are not that different from ours. Before the synthetic insulin, pig's insulin was the source and has saved many humans from an early grave.

One can never be 100% sure with virusses as they are biologically fairly simplistic and frequently mutate and can jump the species barrier.
Mmm... Sorry, peachybabe, don't know what happened there. Half of my post has disappeared, it was twice as long.

Basically it went on the say that the 'swine flu' that is causing all the problems in humans now is one that has already mutated from the original swine influenza.
