Very interesting sites Indie.

Dont ask silly questions Judder!! How do human beings know if fish feel pain? They can't make a sound or anything!! :o)

bernadette - I don't think this is a silly question as I have wondered the same thing myself. Also, some people might be in a coma or born blind, deaf & dumb, but it's still nice to find out if they feel pain too, wouldn't you think?
Yes, I agree, with you smudge sorry Judder, I was joking anyway I put a smile on my previous post as you can see.

I think fishing is cruel.....and it drives me crazy when so called vegetarians eat fish and chicken...and because they aren't furry, or fluffy...that its ok to eat them i'm not a veggie....i love meat...but i think fishing is cruel...just think....a fish must be in the water to get oxygen to breathe... when it comes out of the water...it is suffocating...its like us being smothered with a pillow....think about it

:)

Fishing is NOT cruel, despite what all the anti this anti that brigade will tell you. it is a simple fact that they do not have the physical attributes to feel pain, they have found some crude nosciceptors in some fish (the part of an animal that can react to pain) but they do not have the required part of the brain to receive that information. PETA and all the other loonies (PETA bering the organisation that takes in all the stray animals in Virginai then puts them all to sleep) has been laughed out of America but tries it on else where. I have seen trout with there innards on display having been attacked by a pike happily feeding away on the surface of a lake on insects. I am quite sure that when caught during angling they are inconvenienced but fish such as carp live to over 50 years of age and named carp ( recognised by their scale patterns) are caught time and time again and suffer no ill effects.
