the preamble to "Oldie"crossword 243 says "in TWELVE clues, cryptic indications omit reference to parts of the answers to be entered in the grid;these parts should be shaded in,to reveal the identity of an unclued entry whose first appearance in print occurred 70 years ago. I have completed the crossword and shaded in "Bruce Wayne"but these letters occur in NINE clues. Can anyone suggest what else is required? Many thanks for any help.
Thanks,Kettledrum, for your attempt to help but BATMAN,
ROBIN,JOKER,RIDDLER and CATWOMAN are already in
the grid - all unclued entries! I've sent it off with just BRUCE
WAYNE highlighted and will have to wait to find out if it was
an "OLDIE" mistake (unusual)or if I missed something.
