That was the day that HMS Sheffield was hit by an Exocet missile, fired from a Super Etendart of the Argentinian Air Force. My friends son, Allan, died that day. So, in memory of him and all the fallen who have died for this country, please have a look at this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKU3b7rnvlQ

I was left up in Lancashire in our new home with my 9 month old son and it was a very worrying time. Our best man had already been on his way to Asscension with his aerial erection team and after thinking we were leaving the RAF life after 12 years (for my husband that is) he was right back there and facing the first active duty of his career. I thank God that in the end they did not send him and he was stood down and came home later in the month. Our best man was on asscension for months.
It seems such a lifetime away now but I know the families of those who lost their lives doing their duty will be remembering it as if it were yesterday.
