Has anyone else noticed in their local supermarket an apparent "shortage", of tuna in oil (all types) and an increase in tuna in brine or tuna in springwater on the tinned fish shelves ? is there any reason for this ? also the price has almost doubled.

Havent had that problem in Peterborough.Maybe its just your local supermarket.
I assumed much of this was due to depleted stocks of mature tuna. Probably cheaper to can in brine ALSO current helth concerns would suggest no oil.
I haven't noticed...but then-I only buy 'in brine'
At the moment Sainsbury's are selling a 185g tin of John West tuna in mayonnaise with sweetcorn for 97p and very tasty it is too!
I live in Thetford Norfolk
The thought of tuna in oil is repulsive I find but I know that lidl sells it that way. I would only get the brine version but.
its because its full of mercury
I've been to Asda today, and they are selling tuna in oil. But I'm with most other people here, I don't buy it myself, I buy tuna in brine.
