Can anyone tell me the title or singer of a very sweet French-language pop song sung by a young cute-sounding girl singer that has a kind of insistent verbal beat that ends each line with rhyming words like "...oublie," "desole," etc...? I used to hear this a lot in Belgium about eight to ten years ago (mid to late nineties), and loved it, but never caught who it was by. Can anyone help?

Well have you tried Vanessa Paradis "Joe Le Taxi"?
That reached No.3 in February 1988.

No chaps..... it's not Vanessa Paradis' Joe Le Taxi, and it's certainly not old Plastic Bertrand!

it's got a sort of emphatic rhythm:
(emphasis on the first syllable of each word:)
1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and......
DA-da DA-da DA-da DA-a-ah,
DA-da DA-da DA-da DA-a-ah... etc

More suggestions welcome, thanks!
This has the lyrics in but looks like s more recent eurovision song....

OK....
For anyone who might have picked up this strand, I have now discovered what it was - and far from being a young cutie, and recent, it seems to have been recorded some years ago.... The song is "Pink Martini" by Edith Piaf!.
How about that?
Perhaps it was re-released, (or re-recorded?) to coincide with the film "La Vie En Rose" ... but I have no other idea.
Thanks to everyone who considered, or responded.

Oh dear me....
I'm wrong!
It's not by Piaf.
It's by the US band called Pink Martini, and it's called "Sympathique" from their debut album released in 1997 - and the title track was apparently a huge hit in France - understandably. And the young singing cutie in question is called China Forbes.
THIS is the answer - and again, thanks to one and all.
