Stained saucepans

My "Stainless steel" saucepans have become very stained can anyone tell me how I can get them nice and shiny again !

Buy some "Bar Keepers Friend", its a great product on all stainless steel. Make it into a paste and apply it to the pans. Scour with green side of a dual sided sponge.

You can but Bar keepers friend at Lakeland - but just stewing up a bit of rubarb in the pan would probably work as well.

Put a good egg-cupful or more of strong domestic bleach in the kitchen sink and fill with hot water. Immerse the saucepans and leave for an hour; keeping plastic or wooden handles out of the bleaching liquid involved.

You may find that most of the staining will be removed without the need to scour and you'll also have a really clean sink after the operation concerned.......Ron.

You can sometimes find it in Sainsburys, Homebase etc.

It brings up metal sinks/drainers and white surfaces beautifully..

im sure if u soak them with white viegar they come up gleamin, old fashion remedy

Heat up some rhubarb in the pan. It cleans them beautifully , not sure what it does to the stomach!!

I agree with Amy any vinigar will do, just give them a good old rub with vinigar and rinse , I use it all the time for cleaning pots and pans

Vinegar could be the answer. Anything acidic such as lemon juice, rhubarb etc, shouldn't harm stainless steel.

I've never tried it, but isn't Bar Keepers Friend made from rhubarb ! .......Ron

I agree with vivandorron. I think anything slightly acidic will do the job. White vinegar is the one to use I am sure.

Boil a couple of cut lemons in them, I found this out when I made some lemon marmalade in a ss pan beautifully clean and smells lovely when boiling.
