What turned out to be the cause of the plane crash in America several years ago, the plane was flying normally when it just suddenly nose dived into the sea the pilot said only "oh God!"
There was an accusation at the time that the pilot committed suicide but his family denied this.
There was also an accusation that the U.S Navy shot it down by accident as they were test firing missiles in the area at the time too, the U.S denied it.
So what did happen?

You're probably referencing Egypt Air flight 990 that crashed October 31, 1999 about 60 miles off the east coast of the U.S.
Agreement as to the cause has never been determined, due in large part to the near-violent disagreement between the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) the independant accident investigation entitiy here in the U.S. and the operator of the aircraft represented by the government of Egypt.

After climbing to nearly 33,000 feet above sea level, the pilot in command decided to go to the bathroom leaving the second in command (sometimes referred to as First Officer) Capt. Gameel el-Batouty at the controls. The Boeing 767 crashed just a few minutes later, diving nearly 15,000 feet in just under one minute, all the while Batouty repeated (in Arabic) "I rely on God". The Captain returned to the c0ckpit and a few seconds later the aircraft crashed. It appears from the Flight Data recorder the engines were shut down just prior to the crash.
