Divide by 5 then multiply by 8. (Other way for litres to miles).
If you mean to convert miles per gallon into litres per kilometre then these are the figures you need.
1 Imperial Gallon (UK) = 4.54609188 litres
1 mile = 1.609344 kilometres

Multiply your gallons used by 4.54 and divide that into the miles you have done and you will have miles per litre.
Multiply the result by 1.6 and you will have kilometres per litre.

Probably easiest to use http://mpg.webix.co.uk/
Ooops! That first line should have read; kilometres per litre. Not litres per kilometre. (unless you have a Range Rover).
Deborah:

Do it the way I've suggested, it's simple:

For example:

1) 80miles divided by 5 = 16 X 8 = 128kilometres.

2) 128km divided by 8 = 16 X 5 = 80 miles.

OR

1) 80km divided by 8 = 10 X 5 = 50 miles.

2) 50miles divided by 5 = 10 X 8 = 80miles.

Simple!
