Been looking for a nice hotel in london to bring my mum to for a birthday treat.

Would like to stay somewhere near london eye, tower bridge etc but cant find any good hotels near there which will also be easy to get to buck palace, harrods (the usual touristy places)!!

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel near there, maybe overlooking the thames or thereabouts, ?? not asking much i know!!

Millienium Hotel, Knightsbridge. Very close to Harrods, Harvey Nichols. Has its own web site.

Hmmm good question RoaldoM!!

There are 3 of us sharing a room, so looking approximately upto 60 per night. there is the marriot in marble arch which works out at 45 each per night, which includes a discount for oap. but not sure of the area, good reviews of the hotel but dont know if that area is safe.

Thanks to the others for your recommendations, have emailed the tower hotel which looks lovely, but other possibilities will be welcomed!!!

thanks x
You do know that the London Eye and Tower Bridge are not exactly near each other don't you?

Anyway, I've stayed at the Strand Palace Hotel before which is handy for the London Eye, and very near the Thames.
You can get on a boat at the Tower hotel which drops off at the London Eye and various other stop en route...numerous underground stations on both sides of the river...if you've bought a day travel card for the underground, they give 30% discount on the boat too.
the area is pretty safe. There are lots of Arab shops and restaurants round the Edgware Rd, which means there are people up and about till well after midnight and it's better lit than the average area after dark. The hotel has very good (and recent) reviews here

Just booked the Marriot @ Marble Arch because of the good reviews on Tripadvisor and the discount for OAP's!

Thanks again!
