Hi all
I would like to pick up the spanish channel TVE Internacional, I think I will need a satellite dish for this. There is actually a dish installed outside my house, but since it is a building with several flats im not totally sure it belongs to my property.

Anyway, assuming I can use this dish, will I need to buy a box to find this channel? What kind of box is this and how much will it cost (on average)?

TVE is part of the Sky offering of programmes. So you can get it with a Sky box and subscription. The box dish and installation would probably be free with a one year subscription to Sky.
TVEi is at channel 795 on the Sky digital service. Be aware that it is TVEi though, not sure how their programming would differ from "regular" TVE. I guess it's a satellite specific channel rather than a mirror of domestic TVE (a bit like BBC World shows the "best" bits of the regular BBC channels)
TVE Internacional Europe is on the Astra 1L satellite at 19.2 degrees east, which provides the Sky line-up of programs. It's 'free to air', rather than 'free to view', which means that the signal isn't encrypted, so no viewing card is necessary.

Therefore any Sky box (fed, of course, by a suitable dish) will do the job. They're available for around 20 on eBay.

Program information is available here:

contrary to what has been said here, TVEi is NOT part of Sky and you don't necessarily need a subscription to sky to get it. I get it in the Uk via a freesat (non-sky) decoder. If you go this route, look for something like a second hand technomate box.

So do I need a sky box? freesat decoder? technomate box? Can someone clarify this for me please? And once I have the box how will I connect it to the satellite? I dont know if the dish outside was installed for my flat either but it has been there since before I moved in years ago.

So really the issue here is in establishing whether the satellite dish outside my property can be used...
Any Sky box will do. (Pace Sky boxes are often advertised on eBay for around 20). That. of course, assumes that you've got the proper (satellite grade) coaxial cable connecting the dish to the box.
