Montefrio OK if you put big bars on your windows to keep out the local thieves. Guy I knew even had his fridge freezer chained to the wall.....Bet the prices have skyrocketed there since Granada airport expanded.
You've got a lot of variables in your search criteria - eg can you do alteration / redecorating or do you wan tot move straight in as new; do you want local shops are are you happy to drive for all amenities; what winter weather do you expect; do you need expat contact are not; what telephone/ broadband do you need --- all of these need to be taken into account.

I've lived in Cyprus for the last 3 years and NOTHING would tempt me back to the UK. We have one of the lowest crime rates in the EU; if you steer clear of the "Little England" coastal developments you can look forward to a very peaceful life; prices have risen here over the last couple of years, but there's loads of vacant property and you should be able to negotiate something in your price range. We're up in a small mountain village and LOVE it up here. On the other hand, if you need to find a job in your new land you might struggle here, to be honest - jobs are few & far between, & not desperately well paid.
