I am looking outside my window and can count 10 hardy Fuschias (few large ones with very thick stems)in a small sloping plot. they are well established and have grown for 5 years. However the flowers are not profuse and very small (white and pink), no scent and quite dreary. So all summer its a mass of green with very little colour. Question is I am tempted to remove them. Should I ?. whats the best thing to plant there. Its sheltered and gets good light. I want minimum maintenenace and not bedding plants.
They should be pruned back to about 2 inches from the ground in spring. Its late now, but not too late. Cut them back and they will regrow from the base. They should flower too, because they dont need full sun. Give it a try, but do it NOW!
