Reload/backup CD

When i was infected with a virus last year some of my programms disapeared, If i use the original reload/backup disc which came with my pc will it ( in some cases) replace some up to date versions with the older version?Should i be using this disc at all?

The disc will reset your system back to factory settings; how it was when you first got it (this is what they normally do anyway).

Not sure about creating another disc, but for sure its manufacturer specific... what make is your PC? Will probably be some info on their website.
