Mr ES came out of hosp couple of weeks ago following quite a bowel operation. They put him on warfarine to make the blood thinner but he is getting round and about now but I am still having to give him the injections with about another 28 to go. Is this usual? Should he have not come off them by now or is this something to do with him having had a large op do you think?

Get back in touch with the hospital who did the operation-you have to be careful with warfarin failing that get in touch with your doctor.
Too many unanswerd questions...e.g

Did he have a DVT following his operation?
Has he a history of heart problems or previous DVT's?
Is he having routine Prothrombin blood tests?
I am still confused.....I didn't know that warfarin could be given by injection.

Are you sure that you are not giving him HEPARIN by injecyion?
you can't get warfarin by injection
Bednobs....warfarin can be given by IV injection, but unless eyeshade is a nurse, I doubt that that would be a suitable route for administration.

Surely she means HEPARIN.
when on warfarin tablets, regular injectioning for blood tests are given to guage strength of tablets.

Dont know what you're injecting?
I,ve got a DVT and I have to inject myself in the abdoman every day with Heparin, apparently the clot can take up to 4 months to disperse so maybe he has been prescribed Heparin.
It does sound like he has been prescribed a course of low dose heparin to be administered via subcutaneous injection as a prophylactic measure in reducing the incidence of DVT/PE.
If in doubt however, you should be contacting the surgeons office or your GP
