I personally think it's b/s and it's down to each individual. I think that some people's bodies can handle the alcohol better than others - that's just my take on it though .... maybe I'm just trying to justify my large weekly intake of alcohol ..........

I don't think it'd be great for your health and things can take years to take effect and there are all kinds of other factors which could contribute to or make you at more risk of problems.
I physically couldn't take anywhere near 8 pints though I'm not a big drinker.
I guess it's moderation really. Say if I asked whether having 8 bags of chip shop chips a night on a Friday and a Saturday would do me any harm. I'm unlikely to keel over (like I would with the 8 pints haha) but in the long run my body would really not appreciate it as I'd probably end up badly overweight with a very bad cholesterol level which in turn would cause its own problems especially as I have a family history of early heart attacks and strokes and coupled with the fact I'm a smoker.

I would say yes. You would probably be described as a binge drinker and it would probably affect your health eventually.
Government guideline suggest males should consume no more than 3-4 units of alcohol per day, which equates to around 21 units per week.
A pint of Lager is around 2 units, so if I'm right in assuming you are drinking 16 pints over a weekend then you are having 32 units of alcohol in 2 sessions, which is classified as unhealthy. 35 Units per week is classified as harmful.

They usually refer to that as 'binge drinking' which can be very harmful to your health.
I hardly drink at all purely because I can't take it and get drunk on like 2 glasses wine!
I do have a blow out every few months and feel ill for ages.
Plus side is I look ten years younger than I am as I eat really healthy and am very active.
I think maybe cut it down so your not drinking as much all at once or spread them out over the week x

Cost to the NHS associated with alcohol related disorders, just under 2billion a year......yes billion
Go to an A& E dept in you local hospital any Saturday night and see the idiots that arrive, abuse the staff and make a nuisance of themselves.
I could go on, but it would all fall on stoney ground.
Good luck

I like that point Sqad, having sat in a a busy city A&E on a Friday/Saturday night a number of times (never alcohol related) I find it horrifying what the staff have to put up with, mostly alcohol related, and it's telling that my local A&E has a constant police presence at those kind of times.
I remember getting a telling off from my doctor for not going to A&E when I have certain symptoms as he'd told me too, I had to explain that on a Saturday night, especially after a big football match, it was the last place I wanted to be and I'd rather suffer at home and deal with the consequences than end up there.
