A few years ago my company made a claim and won; the problem came when we tried to enforce the judgement and, from memory, I think we just gave up in the end.

Yes to someone who we thought was a friend and loaned money to. Won but never got the money. He denied having any money and said wasn't working and we could never get proof. Wasn't worth the hassle in the end and ended up writing it off.
Yes, to both.

But I get paid for it.

If you have a specific question Mrs C and need advice, will try to help - although am not round much atm.

Thanks for replies folks.

Thanks BM. I had a short break holiday a couple of weeks ago, and paid 100 security deposit, to cover any breakages.

The cottage owner is reluctant to pay me the deposit back, despite the fact that I left the cottage spick and span, no breakages, no problems.

She is not returning my phone calls, and I have emailed as well, but she hasn't replied to that either. I wonder where to go next.

I paid by direct bank transfer. She has my account details, and it would only take a couple of minutes for her to transfer the deposit back to me. I feel frustrated because she will not speak to me. I have left messages on her answerphone, but I am now getting a recording saying her mailbox is full.
Write her a letter setting out your complaint in detail and explain that if you do not hear from her within 21 days you will immediately lodge proceedings in the SC court, which will include a claim for costs and interest.

Give her 21 days and then lodge proceedings with moneyclaim online. If possible when you do your witness statement include all the times you have tried to contact her. You really need to set up a paper trail though and put stuff in writing.

Thanks lass. I get the feeling she thinks that I'll write it off if she just ignores me.

I feel that it's too much money for me to give up on.
cheeky cow. Don't let her get away with it. 100 is 100. It won't cost you more than about 50 to issue proceedings. If you need help on how to do it, there are peeps here that know how to contact me.
