Does anyone know where I can still buy the old type light bulbs. (100 watt) I don't like these energy-efficient ones, they take ages to reach a decent light to read by.
The removal of incandescent bulbs from sale is still in the voluntary phase, so you can still buy them. The most common outlets are 'pound shop' type places and market stalls.
However it will be illegal to sell 100W bulbs from 1st September this year. 75W bulbs (which are rare in this country) will be banned one year later. From 1st September 2011, the ban will include 60W bulbs. The ban on the sale of incandescent bulbs will become total on 1st September 2012.
If you have a local Home Bargains you can get them there, otherwise you need the independent old fashioned hardware shops, I have a stock of over 200, including 20 150 watt, hardest to find!!!
The new bulbs have hidden dangers, they should never be used in bedside lamps or reading lamps and conrtrary to popular belief they do not save on electriciity unless they are left on 24/7.
Don't get me started on this bone of contention .I hate these energy saving bulbs and have been stock piling since I heard the normal bulbs were to be phased out .
You can still get them. It's just a case of pound shops and cheaper outlets .Snap 'em while you have the chance .
They don't save energy .I had one in the hall .I was half way up the stairs before it warmed up .
Stockpile !!
Just another nanny government initiative so that we can be seen to be doing out bit .If they had their way we would all be sat in the dark so that they can massage more energy saving statistics whilst wasting enormous amounts of taxpayersmoney propping up banks etc.
there a plenty in "the range" and "bhs" ..supermarkets are having to look PC so eco bulbs are being pushed there.
bhs screw in candle 40w and 60w 2 a pack of two and at mo buy two get one free (i know i just bought them saturday)
