I've never fully got my head around my maternity leave rights etc, as it's so boring, I've never really taken it in.
Anyway, I spoke to the HR Manager at work today and she said I was entitled to 26 weeks paid maternity leave which could be extended for a further 26 weeks, but that would be unpaid.
For the first 6 weeks, I will be entitled to 90% of my weekly wage and thereafter for the remaining 20 weeks would get aprox 117 per week, although the Directgov site say's 33 weeks at 123.06.
Can someone please tell me what exactly I will be entitled to? I take it, if I take extended leave to 52 weeks, I will get nothing during that time, if so, will I get anything from the Government?
hi velvet, i got my standard 26 paid mat leave and decided not to go back to that job after that but could still claim tax credits because my parttner was working. You should be entitled to
paid mat leave
tax credits {depending on income}
child benefit
I am pretty sure that maternity leave is 9 months now so by law you will get paid for that time not only 26 weeks. You can take up to a year though but the other 3 months would be unpaid. I don't know what the pay is though.
I think there will be info on the direct.gov.uk website.
