Currently using IE7, but want to upgrade to IE8. However, laptop wants to download to my own files rather than (possibly) 'program files'. Should I force the change or accept what the pc wants to do? How should I force the change pse?

When you download a file you are going to install it is usual to store it in your own personal directory (for example called My Documents in XP).

Then when you start the install the install program itself will put it in the "Program Files" directory.

So accept what the PC wants to do and put it within your own files.

I usually create a folder called "downloads" for all my file downloads, then later I can easily find what I have downloaded.

when you download the IE 8 from the internet.

simply click on the download link and it will automatically download in your computer.

so you need not to worry about it.

if you want to save these files in another directory than you need to choose the location from the computer.
