Can anybody tell me the actual conviction that put Hindley in prison? She is/was referred to as 'Moors Murderer', but was she actually done for murder? I would appreciate a real answer, and NOT misty memories from the time. Thanks.

I think it was mentioned on the news this morning that she was convicted of the murder of two children. I assume that must be because of the tapes, which presumably were treated as hard evidence. I don't think she was ever convicted of any crime relating to the other children.
Brady and Hindley were convicted of murdering Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans, while Brady was also convicted of the murder of John Kilbride. They both received life sentences. Source - bbc.co.uk

This evil pair didn't just murder their young victims (if that wasn't bad enough), but they also got "pleasure" from torturing them first and hearing them scream. How could any parent (or anyone else, for that matter) ever forgive such crimes? In the James Bulger case, I had thought that 2 year old James had "just" been murdered until I learnt that he too had been tortured first. As it says on the website http://www.jamesbulger.co.uk/main.html, "...they subjected James to horrendous physical torture before battering him to death". For most normal people, this degree of evil is impossible grasp.
Whatever happened to those two? Were they ever released with new identities?
