Teddy bears

A teddy bear applied for a job as a navvy. He got the job and the supervisor gave him a shovel and a pickaxe and showed him where to dig the trench. All went well until the teddy bear returned to work after lunch, and couldn't find his pickaxe anywhere. Finally, almost in tears, he went to the supervisor to report the loss.
"Oh, I'm sorry about that: I should have warned you - todays the day the teddy bears have their picks nicked...."
