I've been commiting a fraud against my employers for the last 5 years. The sum of money involved is about 300,000. This is my first offence of this nature. I'll be pleading guilty as the evidence is stacked up against on paper in black & white. Any ideas of my likely sentence

So you have previous convictions.
Are you able to repay the money?
Are you in the UK?
Is your employer in the private sector, or the public sector?

personal experience (and no, it wasn't me!)

someone stole over 500k from their (private sector) employer. no previous convictions. pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.. 6 years, reduced to 4 for his early guilty plea. home, villa, cars subject to a confiscation order. made bankcrupt whilst in prison.

where's them money? have you paid any back?
Someone who I knew well at the time (althought not as well as I thought lol) commited fraud against the company he worked for and got 10,000 - he was jailed for 10 months

It appears that whether it is 300k or 10k, you might be inmprisoned for longer than you expect.
The bed you sleep in now, gazza?

Is it zed shaped? Because I don't know how you could lie in it straight.

I hate white collar criminals.
Are they worse than blue collar then? What a silly comment
The Sentencing Guidelines (check them on the Sentencing Guidelines Council website) say that for a theft of over 125k the starting point is 3 years if you plead not guilty, with a range of 2-6 years. Pleading guilty right away will get you a reduction of around 1/3 of your final sentence.

As an example, say you would have gotten four years, plead guilty you will get approx 33 months and serve 16 or so then be out on licence. You might get more or less depending on your circumstances, life history, convictions and whether the judge is in a bad mood.
