in the early hours of this morning there was a commotion outside our house, i looked out of the window and there were 4 police cars on the street and approximately 8 police officers chasing someone through the gardens into the woods at the end of the street!
5 hours later a police tow truck arrived and took away my friends car who lives further up the street with his mam.
She rang the police who told her he was in custody but couldn't tell her why and not to worry as it wasn't serious, she phoned again at lunch time and was told he was still in custody awaiting court on monday.
The guy in question is bad for drink driving but i didn't think they would tow away the car seen as it was parked outside where he lives.
what offences could he have commited to have his car towed away and to be held in custody for 4/5days before going to court
i thought it could be for drugs or maybe hitting another car/person and not stopping but the police woman said it wasn't serious, is this something they just say to everyone to stop them worrying!
If the police refuse to release him on bail he must appear at the earliest opportunity in the Magistrates' Court, and in any case within 48 hours. He cannot be kept in custody from last night until Monday without a court appearance.
sounds a wee bit more serious than just drink/driving, removing the car could be for a number of reasons, forensics/evidence or just plain no insurance.
