The other day one of the children knocked a bottle of oil out of the cupboard and it went everywhere. I blotted and cleaned the flotex carpet as best I could, but it still feels yukky ( I even squirted washing up liquid on and added boiling water before blotting) Any ideas on what more I can do?

Any type of oil or grease should be covered in talcum powder first, brush off then keep applying more talc etc etc,it will eventually vanish, once you apply water you are sealing it in,of course if it is a huge amount like you say then first try and scoop most of it off with a knife or spatula, just don't wet it,then proceed with the above,it's still worth a try with the talc, you can't lose anything, good luck.
Flotex have hints on how to clean your carpet on www.flotex.co.uk/pages/cleaning.
Cleaning a Flotex carpet is quite different to an ordinary carpet due to the fibre structure.
P,S. don't forget to rub the talc in before you brush it out.

Thanks momac and moonshadow - after looking at the flotex site it looks as if I had done the right things, but still feels slightly greasy. I'll repeat it all again and see if that helps
What about using a warm iron over some dull brown wrapping paper on top of the stain? I know that's really good for wax but it might help. Obviously Flo tex will melt at a high temp but it might work to loosen & absorb the residue.
Thanks for the talcum tip, new one to me.
I agree with ailie, and suggest that you try using greaseproof paper and a warm iron. It should work.
trouble is if it's an oil then its probably not soluble in water so you would need some sort of degreaser that wouldn't damage the carpet
