11a Cause to drink like a fish without sleep (6). ?O?Z?E. I have SOZZLE, but where does the fish come in?

'Framed' is 'put up to it', but not sure of the wordplay

I think it's PRIMED. Pried, meaning looked, put around M, latin number for 1000, the whole meaning up to it. Araucaria quite often uses number loosely.

Many thanks for explanations. Re 9a, I do agree that Araucaria does use "number" rather loosely, it could be any number, couldn't it?
