passport advice
PLEASE HELP
we have just noticed that my husbands passport has expired and we fly to tenerife on tuesday. The passport office is saying that there is absolutly no chance that he will get an appointment before tuesday anywhere in the country to renew his passport. So it looks like I will be travelling on my own with a baby and paying massive flight prices for him to fly out later!!!
Anyone any ideas as to how we could get a passport!!!!!!!!!!

I drove like mad from Birmingham to the passport office in London and they did my passport in less than 4 hours.
I managed to catch my flight at around 3pm with a passport that was hot off the press.
I would have thought one of the major passport offices should be able do one for you if you can get there before 11am on Saturday.

At one time Spain would officially accept an expired British (or German) passport for up to a year after expiry. No others. Don't ask why.
Whether this is still the case I've no idea - it was always a bit iffy as to whether airline checkin staff would know this quirk of the rules.
And coming back you cannot be refused entry if you are a UK citizen. True they can give you a hard time, but they can't turn you away.
