i bought 3 slow cooker cookery books from amazon recently one curries and spicy food, one food from the mediteranean and the other 'real' food from the slow cooker so i could find you a recipe (or several!) but im at work and they are home. If you dont get any recipes i will post again later.

Ah thanks busybee! Would be very helpful. There's loads of good books, but we haven't invested in a curry one! YET! Not until we've tried one anyway.
You'll surely need to do a bit of preparation in a frying pan first? (Unless you buy ready fried dried onions).

Finely chop 3-4 strong English onions and fry in butter ghee until virtually charred. Fry in 2-3 teaspoons of garlic and a handful of chopped green chillies.

Add to the slow cooker along with a large jar of Patak's vindaloo sauce and a tin of chopped tomatoes. A tablespoon of white pepper. IF you are lucky enough to have any, one each of a Bhut Jolokia and Aji Limony chilli, finely chopped. Allow this mixture to brew for a while, then about 10 mins before you are about to eat, add 1kg of frozen King Prawns.

Serve with brown rice for maximum effect.

(the Aji Limony supplies a delicate citrus tang)

Be sure you do not have to make a long journey next day.

LOL thanks whifffey! Much appreciated. And I do generally pan fry first...
Similar to Whiffey's but rather less complex...
Lightly oil the cooker, dice a couple of onions, add half a jar of any Patak's paste - not sauce - add a tin of chopped tomatoes, add diced beef already browned and drained. Stir all that lot together and cook on low for four hours. Delicious!

Thanks quizmaster!
Curries are just Stews in their native India....just take any Indian recipe and do it in the slow cooker. However, it gives you the perfect opportunity to use some cheap cuts of meat such as mutton or beef shin. Normally quite tough, mutton will break down really nicely and be really tender if slow cooked.

it's just a matter of getting the sauce that you like....chopped tinned tomatoes, greek yoghurt and coconut milk are among some of the things used to make the sauce.

Good luck
