Photos on a CD

...further to my question yesterday..."I've just muddled my way through to burning a load of photos on to a CD-RW. The cd plays on another (older) pc (without a burner), but it does not play on a dvd player. Can someone please tell me if I've possibly done something wrong, because I'm only guessing at what I'm doing."
I'm not sure if the DVD player plays CD-RW discs, how can I tell. But also, when i first tried this with a CD-R disc, they did play.
Hope someone can explain in simple terms to help...thanks.
