Sky time

For some reason - totally unknown to me - there suddenly appeared a small grey rectangular box at the top right hand corner of the TV screen. It is visible on Sky and the four terrestrial channels I receive.

At the extreme left of this box is the clock/timer symbol and it is followed by either the time (sometimes British sometimes CET) or a series of four dashes.

I was not in the room when this happened first and I have no idea what caused it. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Could you have accidentally leant on your controls and put this icon up there? Best turn it off at the wall and wait a few minutes. If it is still there when you switch it back on, phone Sky and ask them!!

It must be a TV setting if it is happening on terrestrial channels as well as sky channels.  Does it appear when you watch videos or dvds?  What make of TV is it?
