Schutzengel - our first dog was a Bull-Mastiff/GSD cross.

He was just like Marmaduke. He was a big, gentle dog. Alas he was also an escapologist - he used to visit the local primary school to play with children at break time. Can you imagine the panic nowadays there would be a police marksman in to kill the huge dog.
