One of the questions we always ask is " How have you prepared for this interview?" We want to know that the applicant has a genuine interest in the job so are looking for answers that reflect that fact eg.. research .what problems they might be working towards , willingness to undertake study by themselves etc. We accept the fact the people are very nervous and make allowances . ( PS I hate interviewing...I sometimes think I am the most nervous. )Realx and enjoy as much as you can.
Most interviews now are based around scenario questions, where you are asked to describe a situation you have experienced and how you handled it, draw on your own experience to highlight your capabilities but always show that you are able to work with others and take instruction.
As its public service & communications, your skills in dealing with people and understanding of varied languages you meet through the work.
