There is an interesting article here about the aircraft industry in the US, which only really got going during WW1http://www.centennialofflight.gov/essay/Aerospace/

Aircraft industry Armaments Industry Medical advances Shipbuilding Submarines
There really werent many medical advances made during ww1. Mostly the treatments were similar to those used in other wars. The biggest impact probably came in the chemical industry, as production of ammonia, chlorine, plastics, artificial rubber etc really took off.
