Nothing interesting or newsworthy ever seems to happen in my neck of the woods, Croydon. Well I don't think so anyway! Others may think otherwise.

What is your city / town / village etc, famous for? Or what famous or even infamous things have happened in your area?

My city is famous for the Minster, medieval streets, viking museum, national railway museum,and roman bits all over the place. Well known people from here include Judi Dench and Vince Cable............apart from that it's quite boring and always full of tourists.
.........oh and Dick Turpin was hanged there...allegedly...
don't forget owld Guy Fawkes was at school there too craft...lol
if there is one place in the UK I would like to live other than my home town, it would be York

Oh I forgot about him....he was born in Petergate....his house is now a hotel very close to the Minster....

yes joy it was called Dean's Hotel but not sure if it still is..
wifffey if you are sure Turpin was hanged at Watford would you be kind enough to correct wikipedia.....
I believe it is still called that craft, stayed at the Monkbar a couple of times
