Can anyone help.
I have a BMW316i compact and the gear knob lacquer on the top has worn off over the years. As a result, in the heat, it gets a tad sticky to touch. I have a new gear knob to put on, although it isn't a BMW one, but i can't for the life of me work out how to get the old knob off. I've tried to twist it off, as you do, but it does't want to budge.
Can anyone tell me how the bl@@dy thing comes off :)

Many thanks in advance

Hi, with great effort the Knob will come off, You have to stride over the Gear stick to gain effort but be carefull you might hit where it hits most, I will let you think about that.

All you have to do is pull is straight up, it has two clips inside that just lock on the gear lever. Pull the old one of and when you refit the new on make sure you bang it hard to get it to clip onto the lever
