Micra 120K on clock - Scrap?
My 1999 Micra 1.0 has run fine for 120k miles with no engine problems. However it has suddenly developed several problems.
* Theres very little power when the throttle is applied and acceleration is slow. Top speed is only 50mph.
* Engine note very raspy
* It drives like its about to run out of petrol
* The ignition cuts out intermittently especially on corners. This cuts off the steering!
i had a garage look at the exhaust and they said nothing wrong. Another garage had a look and couldn't find the fault. They indicated that they would have to keep eliminating suspects at 60 an hour which could run into hundreds of pounds on a very old car.
I'm now in possession of an undrivable 9.5 year old car ( not 10 so cant use scrappage ) and the money for a replacement just isnt there.
On the basis of " nothing to lose by asking" is there anything about these symptoms that rings a bell with Micra owners?

Like scrappy said there are so many things that could cause it,, have you put diesel in instead of petrol ? i had a similar problem with an almera it was a siezed brake pad in effect trying to drive with the brakes on
