This is because occasionally a site or page that stubbornly will not load in one browser will sometimes load in another. Classic example, this site continuously erroring in Firefox and IE - try it on Chrome, it often works.
Thanks craft,
Yes,I thought it was just an updated Google Search engine,it wasn't made clear(well if it was I miissed it) that it is a browser.
IF I decided to download it would I be able to run it AND Internet Explorer,or would there be an inevitable conflict?
I am very happy (so far) with IE,so unless Google Chrome is superior I don't think I will bother.

You can install and run as many browsers as you like. Each is a separate application.
There should not be any conflict.
(Dont do EVERYTHING Google tell you to do. They make BILLIONS of pounds taking what we search on to target their advertising to us so they are not actually on OUR side).

To show how Google target their advertising look at the adverts on the right of this page.
When I look at it I see adverts for "Chrome Heated Towel Rail", "Chrome Ceiling Lights", and "Bodypower Chrome" (whatever that is).
So Google has realised we are talking about "Chrome" and have put up adverts for anything related to Chrome (they dont realise we are talking about their browser).
This targetted advertising is going on all over the internet.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful input, especially to craft for drawing my attention to the fact that Chrome is a browser and not just a Google update!
Reading the blurb again the word browser kept popping out at me,quite how I missed it in the first place I can't think!
(Specsavers here I come)
I shall stick with IE as it has been kind to me.
