What is the latest anybody has first felt the baby. Wife and I are both eternal worriers and first child is now 20 weeks in and has given no little signs. Twenty week scan is bizarrely still a week away and we are just seeking reassurance!

It can be likened to when you go quickly down a hill in a car and your tummy 'goes' - but just lower down - if you see what I mean?? Its not unusual to not feel anything until 22 wks - but if you are worried then call your midwife who will put your minds at rest. Many congratulations to you both!
Hi Dr pop, Im 22 weeks and didnt feel the baby move until the day before I was 20 weeks. It was minimal at first but now its constant on quite strong I can see my stomach moving. Get your wife to lie down still for a while and see if she feels anything. Im sure everything will be fine as Upsydaisy said it can be as last as 22-23 weeks.
HI Pop
I worried through my entire pregnancy. I went to hospital at one point cause i couldn't feel the baby and even when I could hear her "swishing" on the monitor I still couldn't feel her cause she was turned towards my back. It may be your wife simply doesn't realise whats shes feeling. This may seem odd but, I didn't realise the funny feelings I was having at the end were labour pains till a midwife told me what they were !
Its all new and worrysom, just try to enjoy

upsdaisy - yes this is our first and for that reason I think we are a bit more apprehensive. Just hoping scan goes well next Friday.
Etteloc - hopefully baby will be a late starter. Congrats and best wishes to you
aggiela - we will also probably worry all the way through but will try to enjoy at same time
Thanks to you all for taking the time to reply

I was like you Aggie and also went to the hospital because I hadn't had any movement for a whole day, this was soon after my mother died in March and I was convinced the stress had affected the baby, fortunately all was well.
I didn't feel any obvious movements until about 22 weeks Pop and now he just moves all day. It's really amusing, if I put my hand on my stomach, he'll kick or push it, but if my partner does it immediately after me, he goes quiet. I suppose he can distinguish between the two of us already.
It is a worrying time and even now at 39 weeks, I still worry if I feel nothing for a couple of hours. Try to relax and enjoy it all.
